Mad og Kaffe

Mad og Kaffe is another of Copenhagen's favourite build your own brunch spots. They currently have two locations in Copenhagen, one in Vesterbro and the other in Amager.

The cafe in Amager is relatively hidden, so not the kind of place you would be likely to just stumble upon.

I went for the 5-piece brunch of scrambled eggs, bacon, blueberry soya yoghurt, avocado and risalamande. During the christmas period, bakeries and supermarkets fill up with risalamande, a cold, creamy rice pudding topped with cherry sauce. After their christmas dinner, Danes tuck into this in hope that they will find the single whole almond hidden in the dessert. The winner gets a marzipan pig... yes, a marzipan pig. Anyway, to cut a long story short, if you'd like to try this then you'll have to pop in during December.

There were two things I was a little disappointed with here. The first being the service, and the second that the whole place was incredibly dark, even though it was only 10.30 in the morning! I have to say that Wulff & Konstali definitely win my vote for brunch. You can see my previous post on them here.

The 5-piece brunch here is 115dkk, and the 7-piece brunch is 149dkk. The good thing about Mad og Kaffe is that unlike most other brunch places, you can also choose just 3 pieces for 75dkk. Coffee was reasonably priced and much better than what you pay for in Starbucks.

Another thing to note when planning a visit to Mad og Kaffe is that they only serve brunch until 12 on weekdays and 13 on weekends. In comparison, Wulff & Konstali serve their brunch until 15 all week.
