Bao London

You'll find Bao in London's trendy Soho district, usually easy to find thanks to the queue on the opposite side of the street.

To avoid the large queues, turn up just before they open. This is usually 12 for lunch service, and 5.30 for the dinner service.

The queue was quite long when we arrived, and we were not sure how long we would end up standing in the freezing cold.. but it was well worth the wait. We actually waited for only 20 minutes, but it felt much longer while watching people devour delicious buns from outside.

We ordered 2 buns each and 4 sides. The bao buns range from £3.50-£5, and the sides start at £1.50. The drinks list includes Taiwanese soft drinks, cocktails and beer.

If you ever decide to eat here, you HAVE GOT TO try the sweet potato fries. I have never tasted fries like this. No words. Another highlight was the confit pork bun, pictures below.

We also tried the aubergine with wonton crisps, cavolo negro with salted egg and pickle selection.
